2018 - Jul 30th - Ryedale Rumble
The email below came from one of the organisers - Rebecca Palmer Bunting
Good Afternoon, I'm sorry to contact you out of the blue - As the secretary of Angus Cycling Club, I'm looking for your help to spread the word about the "Return of the Rumble".
The popular Ryedale Rumble is making its long awaited return to the Sportive calendar on July 29th 2018 and is open for entries.
Whilst I appreciate we are a distance away from your usual routes, I wonder if any of your members may be holidaying in our area at the end of July.
Now being run by Friends of Ryedale School, with the backing of British Cycling, the Rumble has a few changes of route but essentially is still the same exhilarating and arduous challenge it always was - including 3 of the Top 100 climbs.
If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch as we would really appreciate a mention in members newsletters or via any social media channels you may have.
Thanking you in advance.
Kind Regards,
Rebecca Palmer-Bunting

Are you ready to Rumble?
Make no mistake, the Ryedale Rumble is a challenge. Choose the distance that suits you and your ability.
There are 3 routes. The Extreme route of 169.9 kilometres, a Challenge route of 120.5 kilometres, and an Inspire route of 79.3 kilometres. All routes encounter the inevitable hills of the North York Moors.
The Extreme and Challenge routes are aimed at experienced cyclists who want a serious test of fitness, endurance and stamina. With elevation gains of over 2,893m the extreme route takes in the now traditional monument climbs of Boltby Bank, Blakey Bank and Rosedale Chimney Bank. Challenge riders will take on the thrills and pain of an elevation gain of 1,744 metres while enjoying the beautiful moorland countryside. The Inspire route is for cyclists young or old, beginners or experienced, who want to extend their cycling ambitions with a 995 metre elevation gain to encounter.
The Ryedale Rumble allows riders to explore areas of the North York Moors national park, while raising money for Ryedale’s leading secondary school.
What is a sportive?
Not a race, sportives are a great way to get into organised cycling events, giving you the chance to complete a fully signed and supported ride in a relaxed environment. Think of it as the marathon of the cycling world (or a fun run if the word ‘marathon’ brings you out in a cold sweat).
Riding a sportive allows you to explore a new area on your bike, in the knowledge that you are fully supported by event staff and surrounded by other enthusiastic participants.
Entry Fees:
Extreme: £35.00 in advance
Challenge: £30.00 in advance
Inspire: £25.00 in advance
All participants are encouraged to raise some sponsorship, no matter how little. Sponsorship forms are available to download here. We will have collection points at the HQ on the day.
To Enter
Online only via British Cycling.
Parental Consent
All riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A parental consent form is required for each rider under 16.
If you have any questions, please Contact Us, and we will respond as soon as possible.
